History

So I thought for my final post I would talk about some of the history of this building that I just recently found out.

When this building was originally built back in 1952. It was Saunder's Auto Parts. The man who built this building was Pete Saunder.

Than in 1977, it was turned into Butcher's Used Tractors and the large fencing was put up all around the property.

Than in about 2000 the building was taken over and turned into an antique store. Since than it has been owned by three different people. In June of 2012 my parents purchased the store and we have been making big changes.

After we took over the store we were told that there is a ghost that haunts the building. Well after talking to Pete Saunder's son we believe the ghost to be of Pete. We actually have not seen him yet but have had a few things moved around.

Perfume Bottles

This week I'm going to talk about one of my favorite items in our store; Perfume Bottles. I have a special attachment to these because they were my grandmothers, and yes we are selling them.

For about 22 years my grandparents lived in Saudi Arabia where my grandfather worked for the king. While there my grandmother’s favorite thing to do was shop. A favorite shop of hers was a perfume store. In Saudi Arabia buying perfume is a little different than here in the United States. Within these little shops where large bottles of perfume, where you would pick out a bottle that you liked and the store owner would than mix senses to your liking.

My grandmother’s favorite bottles were ones that were mouth blown and hand painted. Here is just a small amount of the perfume bottles that my grandmother had.

Fun Fact

Did you know that you can tell how old a Zippo lighter is based on how many markings are on the bottom?

It's true... On the bottom of Zippo lighters are markings, either slashes, numbers or dots. More markings or a higher number indicates the lighter is older which in turn is worth more.

This one for example is from 1969.
